Stem cell research offers miraculous wonder cures, and delivery of such
scientific progress should not be hindered unless there's really an
ethical concern. The Bush Administration has stated it's opinion
that ethical concerns become unbearable when the divisions of a fertilized
egg reaches about 8 cells, and has instituted barriers to scientific
progress that needlessly hinder scientific research.
This vital area of medical research has basically gotten caught up into
the politicized issue of abortion. No humane person
proposes killing human fetuses. Abortion of a viable fetus is
murder, and early in the first trimester of a pregnancy, ethics
concerns arise. My belief is that no ethical concern exists
so long as the diameter of a blastocyst (fertilized egg that's developed a
little) is less than 1 millimeter in diameter. |
