The purpose of meeting was to review campaign issues as they relate to current legislative priorities. Congressman Paul and McLendon found much common ground regarding issues on the Patriot Act of 2001, Middle East foreign policy, the US Constitution, government spending, and alternatives to the current taxation system. |

| The central theme of the McLendon for Congress Campaign is to reduce the size of government while increasing government’s focus on only legitimate functions. McLendon stated, “We the people here in Texas deserve no less than a government that does perform its real duties, and that does not poke its nose into places where it does not belong”. | |
